My PhD has finally been conferred. 5 years of my life has finally been capped off with a certificate.

COVID, supervisors moving away, a shrinking lab, machines breaking, lab flooding, broken growth rooms and we're done.

So happy to attend #ICCB2025 in Brisbane this week. It's so great to such a diverse delegate list that is rich in cultural and academic knowledge.

I really appreciate the focus on finding collaborative solutions to intricate problems throughout the talks I have seen so far.

It’s been a fantastic week at #EGU25. Thank you to everyone who has stopped by the @csiropublishing.bsky.social booth to talk (or draw) about your research and learn more out not-for-profit publishing!

It’s been great to see so much passion and energy for research of all kinds at this meeting!

It’s day 3 at #EGU25 and I’d be lying if I said I’m not exhausted already! It’s been a great week talking to attendees about our @csiropublishing.bsky.social portfolio at booth 36!

If you’re an ECR and you have questions about Publishing, Writing or even Australia drop on by and have a yarn!

“The best science communication ends with the spark of curiosity.”

“Trust starts with a human face and a personal touch”

I’ve loved the emphasis on breaking your bubble, building community and stepping off your pedestal in the science communication conversations at #EGU25.

So great to see so many fire talks on the first day of #EGU25! 🔥

Particularly exciting is how diverse these talks have been, representing a dozen or more countries! 🌎

Hoping for more of this throughout the week!

So excited to be in Vienna to attend #EGU25! This region of Europe has such a storied history in academia and literature, so it seems a perfect place for this meeting.

I’m here with @csiropublishing.bsky.social at booth 36, so if you want to talk about non-profit publishing I’ll see you tomorrow!

🧪 When I finished up my PhD a little jaded I was so happy to end up in a job where I could still engage with science, but take a break from research.

It's so cool to be able to attend conferences outside of my field, talk to people and understand what we need to do to be better in the future.

Although I’m sure it has its challenges too, I will forever be jealous of people who don’t do in vivo work…

Not having to wait 8 weeks to harvest seeds would have been a blessing. 🧪

Anyone who thinks that academics and scientists are always reasonable and measured in their decision making doesn’t realise that Australian and African botanists nearly went to war over the use of the name Acacia. 🧵
