Political support for better buses in the west continues to grow. Big thanks to all the councillors, candidates and MLCs supporting the community's call #BetterBuses

Info from today's after work rally. Our future fund should be investing in communities, not profiting from genocide.

Crowd is building outside the Future Fund HQ calling on the sovereign wealth fund to end investments in Israeli weapons company Elbit Systems. No to a future soaked in blood! #ElbitOutOfVic

Today Travis Lovett finished walking over 500kms from Portland to Parliament on the #WalkForTruth. More than 10,000 Victorians joined him at various stages. Really powerful moment and a real privilege to be part of it. Truth telling laid the foundation, now it's time for Treaty!

Throwback to that time Adam Bandt brought a solar panel into Parliament, telling the Coalition not to fear, in the middle of their anti-renewables scare campaign back in 2017.

Minister @chrisbowenmp.bsky.social was right to say that navigating new energy projects can be like a maze in his recent interview with the Stock Journal. Regional communities need more support to navigate this change -- that's why Local Energy Hubs are so important.

Dutton thanks David Little proud his "partner in crime"

Strange choice of words for someone embroiled in shady real estate investments

After local community members launched a popup Local Energy Hub in Wollongong CBD yesterday...

Liberal Candidate for Cunningham Amanda Ivaneza has accused organisers of misinformation, claiming she was never invited.

Problem is we got receipts 😭

I totally thought this was just a private collection at my local coffee shop Kines, but turns out it's a decolonial library - Murmur Library. The collection is awesome and easy as to borrow. If you're around Brunswick check it out.

In stark contrast local offshore wind supporters like Good for the Gong have been doggedly positive and open, working with experts, educating themselves + their neighbours about offshore wind pros and cons.

This is the crucial work needed to make sure communities have a real say in this industry.

Been on the road visiting Portland and Warrnambool spruiking our Local Energy Hubs campaign.

More updates coming soon but for now, here's a pic of the Cape Bridgewater wind farm. An absolute beauty and one of my faves.

I've been informed Matt Canavan is rather annoyed about this story in The Australian over on the bad site:

Emergency alerts about a shortage of electricity reserves hit an all-time record for the last quarter of 2024, as NSW's two largest coal power stations suffered a spate of debilitating faults.

Time to end my stint as a Kooyong voter. Moving back to Brunswick and can't wait to have Paloma rolls all the time

This is a great community win - the idea had its genesis in Voices of the Valley's concept of 'Smart Refuge Centres' after the 2019/20 bushfire disaster, and more recently formed part of Friends of the Earth's state budget submissions

Starting off the year with Kate Crawford's Atlas of AI. This line hits home:

Computer scientist Woody Bledsoe's vision of AI as 'the *only* science' is "a desire not to create an atlas of the world but to be *the* atlas -- the dominant way of seeing"

Can't get enough of E Annie Proulx at the moment. Heart Songs, her collection of short stories set in rural New England is a real gem that can deliver a gut punch in one line, and a cackle of laughter the next. Recommend.
