Well, not really, they also funded two great films.

I watched #Mistrial, a solid #TVmovie with #BillPullman and #RobertLoggia.

It was pretty solid, nothing jawdropping, but a twisty story and a good cast made it a totally not boring piece of 90s entertainment. Worth seeking out.

7/10.

For a second I thought it was the alternate title of this classic! 😄

I even own a copy of the novelization! Still haven't read it though. I need to get on those Alien/Predator novels, I have tons of them and only read a few.

I finally watched #Heathers with friends. The legendary film I somehow missed for over 35 years.

What a blast. We laughed our asses off and were also postively shocked by the amount of dark humour in it.

Performance of a lifetime for #ChristianSlater? And for #WinonaRyder? Possibly.

I've reread #Rook, the first volume in #GrahamMasterton's long running horror series. First time since the 90s. I still don't think it's one of his best, but it holds up as good as it can. I guess it's "horror for young adults"?

Anyway, a 7/10. The better ones are coming though.

I watched #Vigilante, a #WilliamLustig joint, a really solid #exploitation thriller.

Could and should have been more sleazy and "morally ambiguous", but my friends and I had some fun with it.

And that cast... Robert Forster, Fred Williamson, Joe Spinell... Those were the days.

I've read #Metro2034, the sequel to, well, you know what.

It was good, maybe a little better than the 1st one, but there is still something missing. I enjoyed them both, but I don't get where the "cvlt" comes from.

Anyway, now I am allowed to play the second game, right?

Thanks!

Looks like my Halloween evening will be rereading the classic James Herbert novel The Rats, and then watching the shitty adaptation. Will be fun, I'm sure.

I saw #TurkeyShoot, a.k.a. #Escape2000 from 1982.

A nice slab of #ozploitation, sleazy and silly and a ton of fun. Some innovative kills and pretty cinematography. Looks good to this day.

Another good recommendation by @ryanmcm.bsky.social - thanks, buddy.

A pretty good "continuation" to the classic tale. I liked it a lot.

I've read #UnderTheDome by the master scribe #StephenKing.

Wow.

Only this guy knows how to write a novel that's 8000 pages long, yet still engaging and not boring at all. So many characters, so many subplots, and it all works. A phenomenal science fiction thriller. Jawdropping.

I watched #EndangeredSpecies from 1982.

A pretty solid thriller/horror with a touch of science fiction (I think?) Not that scary, but very well made and phenomenally acted by a spectacular cast. Robert Urich, JoBeth Williams, Hoyt Axton, Peter Coyote, Dan Hedaya... So many greats. Good fun.

I watched #WithoutWarning, a 1980 SF horror movie.

Pretty mediocre. Had its moments, but overall kinda boring, even with solid special effects and Dean Cundey's cinematography. Jack Palance and Martin Landau steal the show, the problem is that there isn't much of a show to steal.

Meh.

Per recommendation by @ryanmcm.bsky.social, I watched The Brain, the old school Canadian horror movie from 1988.

Absolutely loved it. Inventive, tense, a little silly and cheap, but not schlocky, with solid acting and special effects, and beautiful cinematography.

8/10.

Thanks again, mate.

Sometime ago I watched #BuriedSecrets, a pretty decent TV horror movie with #TimMatheson, the king of such productions.

Not that scary, but certainly engaging and well acted. Kinda like Stephen King lite, a classic ghost story. I liked it.

I bought three novels in the #Metro2033 universe. I really liked the first game and the first original novel, so I have some reasonable hopes for these. We will see.

I saw a good TV movie recommended by @ryanmcm.bsky.social, and it didn't disappoint.

Tim Matheson great as always, Dean Stockwell hamming it up, some tense and ridiculous plot twists, good production values. Overall a nice comfort watch, which TV flicks always provide.

I saw #Freaky, that "wacky" mix of #FreakyFriday and a #slashermovie.

Nope. Nu-uh. Wasted potential. Not funny, not scary, pretty boring and stupid all around. Yes, some kills were great, but that's not enough.

It's that kind of movie that makes me dislike slashers. Out with this.

This October I will finally see the first one. I only waited for it for decades.
