Eventually, my mom won her argument and Bone made its way to the library. At some point, she had at least three copies of every volume and still couldn’t keep it on the shelf. The students devoured the comics!

She sat through meeting after meeting to explain to parents that spending school funds on comics wouldn’t ruin their children. My mom just wanted to have books that would get kids excited about reading! (This certainly explains the amount of comics I had as a child…)

My mom remembered how much I loved the stories when they appeared in the magazine. As the school librarian, she jumped at the chance to order the Bone books when Scholastic repackaged them as a part of their Graphix line. Not everyone shared her enthusiasm.

#NYX was by far my favorite book of this #FromTheAshes era. I finally read No. 10 last night. While I’m sad to see the series end and the last issue felt rushed plot-wise, I’m happy the creative team was able to hit the character beats they seemed to intend. Marvel needs more books like this.
