I wish I was clever enough to have my own views but I'm sharing them here anyway...

I was unsuccessful in getting our local authority social services to do a meaningful reassessment of my mum's care needs in time before she died. They didn't see the urgency.

The sad thing for me is that my understanding is that the film and the book show CBD as a slow progression with the ability to do a range of activities after a long time frame.

When people asked me what PSP was I described it as Parkinson's on steroids. Be interested to hear your views on how these illnesses are depicted in films and books. And how accurate they should be to real life experiences

I am hopeful that over the next few days and weeks that @teampspa can explain to a wider audience what people diagnosed with severe CBD and PSP have to face

The key paragraph from the 2013 letter is here with the last sentence explaining why my experience is very different to the author's husband

I have heard PSP being called Parkinson's on steroids. It is a very rapid degenerative condition. If this book / film suggests that the condition can be slowed is really upsetting to me.

When my mum was told by her neurologist that in his opinion it was most likely PSP was the condition (there is no definitive way to confirm PSP) it was really difficult to make our local authority understand the serious of her situation

Seeing that @teampspa were taking part in the launch of the film gave me hope that something positive would come out of this.

Both are rare conditions which aren't really well known in the care and health community. I was hoping that the film of the book would raise awareness.

I had never heard about The Salt Palt until recently when the film came out. CBD, as I understand it, is in the same family of neurological conditions as PSP which my mum was diagnosed with.
