Can't be said enough. America has become rich through globalisation. Those Americans who have become poorer have done so because of how those riches were(n't) distributed. Shutting down trade won't make poor Americans richer ... it will just make everyone poorer.
The suffering that will be unleashed on Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos is horrific. And that's not because they have "raped" America. It's because they're poor, they can't afford many US goods but they can become wealthier by exporting to rich countries.
