#ItCameFromTubi Transmission. I’m a sucker for cursed media & the sort of “Too Many Cooks” collage of genres approach. This scratched both those itches. A nice find.

#recentlywatched Frankenstein. GDT, you magnificent bastard. You and your team knocked it outta the park. Nods to Mary Shelley, the James Whale films, Cushing’s Hammer version.

And give Jacob Elordi an Oscar nod while you’re at it. His performance as the Creature is absolutely incredible.

#recentlywatched Sleepless. Argento Giallo from 2001. Guessed the killer fairly early on. So the reveal didn’t land at the end.

#recentlywatched The Fog (in 4K). It’s been a minute since I watched this one. Another Carpenter banger. And a Grade-A cast.

#recentlywatched (catching up on posting my Halloween watches) Playroom aka Schizo aka This little Chucky-Yoda combo puppet tricks Shooter McGavin into doing murders.
November 9, 2025 at 1:22 AM
#recentlywatched Evil Dead 4K. I like this one and it has some absolutely brutal moments. I do wish we got more of the mountainfolk who knew how to stop the Deadites from the beginning of the film.

#buymybooks JK-LOL. Sci-fi/horror in the Black Mirror vein. A Jekyll & Hyde riff for the social media set. Also has a cross-country chase aspect and if you liked WEAPONS, then I definitely think this will be up your alley. www.madaxemedia.com/jklolpatrick...

#recentlywatched Brimstone & Treacle. Sting is charmingly sinister in this tale of a con artist (demon???) insinuating himself in the life of Denholm Elliot, his sweet, oblivious wife, and their daughter who’s been bedridden and left mentally incapacitated after an accident. This one goes dark too.

#recentlywatched Frankenstein & The Monster from Hell. Cushing’s Frankenstein is just a delightful bitch lol. Monster design is like Bigfoot with a bald head. Still I enjoyed it.

Working through the metamorphosis from married horror author to divorced horror author. (Mutual, amicable, but tough nonetheless.)

This is a very accurate depiction of how I want to eat in preparation.

And I came home to author copies of THE BIG ONE (published by @tonyanuci.bsky.social). Available now w/ a @lynnehansenart.bsky.social cover that really pops.

Also of note: the Biblically-accurate angel wreath at the optometrist.

Halloween Trial Run: local businesses hand out candy during the day on the Saturday before Halloween. Here we have The Carver (from Roblox Piggy) & Carmen San Diego. (PS This hambone insisted on posing that way.)

#recentlywatched Trick ‘r Treat. Picked up the Steelbook 4K of this Halloween classic. Forgot how Dylan Baker just crushed it at playing dorky creeps between this and Happiness (now there’s a double feature). Glad to own this & have it in rotation for spooky season viewing.

#bookmail KING SORROW by Joe Hill. This fucking beast. The last short-story collection didn’t quite hit for me but hopeful this tome is a fun read and never draggin’ (ya see cuz there’s a dragon in the book and oh never mind!). Hill is one of my favorites so this return definitely has me hyped.

#pbarb2025books The Mausoleum of Gore by Jonathan Raab. Oh I can’t wait for the 3rd book in this trilogy of meta found footage/cursed media horror. This book is perfect spooky season reading, unafraid to get weird with it. Plus a slasher character/design that I would LOVE to see on an actual screen!

#BuyMyBooks NIGHT OF THE WITCH-HUNTER. My contribution to @shortwavebooks.bsky.social’s KILLER VHS series.

Check out what happens when

THE CRAFT vs. THE CRUCIBLE

Y2K. Time travel. Magic. Witches. Witch-hunters.

Oh my!

#BuyMyBooks: THE NUT HOUSE. Talking animals. Crime. Weird horror. Originally serialized in Cosmic Horror Monthly, now collected with illustrations by JC Amberlyn, cover by Dakota Marquardt, & the prequel novelette THE ACORN RUN c/o @undertakerbooks.bsky.social

#RecentlyWatched Weapons in 4K. Also a recent purchase. A movie about the dangers of the Naruto run. Heh.

But in all seriousness I dug this one. The hype for Amy Madigan as Gladys is real & the multi-POV structure made this stand out more than it might have delivered straightforward.

#RecentlyWatched Seytan aka the Turkish Exorcist. And this one really is a near beat-for-beat redo of the Friedkin original. Swapping in an imam for a priest & a few other tweaks. The experience of watching it is like watching a dinner theater production of The Exorcist.

#ItCameFromTubi Pennywise: The Story of It. An interesting behind-the-scenes/making of documentary looking at the made-for-TV IT. For my money, Tim Curry’s Pennywise remains the GOAT. There’s the blend of cheapness compared to the movie version that just reads as more authentic to me.
