Today, many years ago, my great uncle, Rex LeGrande Hicks, was the senior officer on the USS Phoenix. When the explosions began, he took the helm of the Phoenix and managed to get it out of Pearl Harbor. This photo? It’s the Phoenix steaming past the Arizona.
