At the risk of being too depressing here, people can still fight their policies and elicit a change in policy (see: coal mining in the Rockies). The problem is that a significant number of Albertans support what they're doing in these cases.

Not sure why people keep showing up to Johnson’s press conferences. All he says is “I don’t know, I haven’t done my homework”.
Even days later it’s still the same answer until the press is given a fresh piece of meat for Mr I play a Christian on TV to claim ignorance about his job
