Punk in East Germany contributed to the fall of the Berlin Wall. An important read now in 2025 U.S.A. The repeated refrain throughout the book is "Don't die in the waiting room of the future." Sadly we just lost its author Tim Mohr, to pancreatic cancer. #punk #eastgermany #berlin

Three years ago I discovered that one only needed to be 50 years-old to join the UA Senior Center Gym. Today is the last day for Skelly to watch over me as I sweat on the elliptical. Tomorrow I have to rub shoulders with (ugh) young people at the new community center at Kingsdale.

Some people smoke cigarettes as a hobby. They don’t need to be reminded to do so. I spend about a half-hour a day solving sentence puzzles and deluding myself into thinking that it means I’m learning a foreign language. I likewise do not need prompting. #duolingo #turnoffallnotifications

I decided to sequence this playlist by the key wheel and pick tunes that would get me from one key to the next. The result is a mixed bag of sub-genres. Everything from Astrud Gilberto, to The Human League, to Sly and the Family Stone. Link to listen in the replies.

Cool version of "Who Loves The Sun" by Nu and Jo Ke kicks off an hour of music mostly in the key of D#minor, if that means anything to you. Most of it is laid-back, spacey, psychy, ambient, with some squonks here and there. Link to listen in first comment. #music #moody #couchlock #communityradio

67% success rate on the yard signs this go-round. This isn’t the Upper Arlington I moved into 30 years ago, and I’m glad.

Also, stop wringing your hands on social media and TALK TO YOUR NEIGHBORS. It makes a difference. #elections #canvassing #signs

Not to undersell the fine art of cooking, but after making dinner for the past 14 years for my family, it boils down to 2 steps: cutting stuff up and then waiting. Doordash exists because too many of us either don’t want to or don’t have the time to cut stuff up and wait. #cooking #beefstew

Bsky will get shittier when it opens to the public. Even worse when the ads start. At that point you'll look for a 3rd party app to avoid the ads, at which point you'll have exerted the same amount of effort it would take for you to join Mastodon now.
