Today our Mexican-born daughter, a U.S. citizen, was stopped by an ICE agent for no reason other than skin color–not doing anything faintly illegal or even questionable. So any claim that ICE isn't doing that is false. Fortunately she had her passport card with her.

This is my 90th birthday (May 23) – a major marker, they tell me: reaching 90 with creative work in progress, with excitement about life and possibilities. I’ve made some speculations on our website and occasional blog: playsonideas.com/2025/05/23/9...

Opinion | The Stupidity of the Tariffs Are the Achievement of a Lifetime
To do something as stupid as Trump’s tariff plan is the result of a lifetime of incuriosity.

The writer's experience is a lot like how Pat and I felt after coming back to the States after living in Mexico for 14 years, with a few important differences. We had changed, of course. But so had America. We barely recognized the country we remembered and loved.

Life Forms, Eventually to Wonder — my fiber piece about the surprise of life existing at all and eventually becoming able to think about all that—has been in a few exhibits. This adventure has been a long rough road, and it looks like that thinking part still has a way to go.

These are strange days—enough to remind me of the trickster Coyote's concern in our collaborative novel, The Jamais Vu Papers.
It's encouraging to see activity and comment here to help counteract attempts to warp our reality to benefit the greedy.
