Is there much back-and-forth with your editor once a book is done? Or is it pretty much "looks good, couple typos, let's print" at this point?

Other possible headlines:

"Good God I can't stand my family"
"The only time I feel joy is driving my big beautiful truck"
"Once I hit a hitchhiker and it made me feel so alive"
"My feelings about commuting will surely not change after the third week"

Yeah I'm not even trying to say corporations aren't the problem - in tons of ways they are, especially with 2008 - but it's usually not by them buying homes.

Ordinary homeowners being *very* NIMBY is a much bigger issue, honestly, in terms of scale.

The 26% stat is "investors" which is any non-owner occupied home, but that's overwhelmingly individuals owning a second or third home, not corporations. As you say, only 3% or so is large corporations.

That's not how 2008 happened, at all.

Preventing corporate ownership would not fix the problem.

What percentage of homes (it can be a rough estimate) do you think are owned by corporations?

All this will accomplish is fewer people with credit cards. It's (mostly) not going to be people currently paying 28% now paying 8%, it's going to be people currently paying 28% now having no access to credit.

Ooooh is there some way to trick the body into doing that then (without water)? That'd be a neat (weird) party trick!

There's "aging gracefully" and then there's "hm, maybe the lipstick wore off"

I just want my phone to have a terminal (and be able to sudo), is that really so much to ask

Absolutely! And some are a real pleasure to read aloud as well, which takes special care. The Hobbit is a classic example of this, beautiful to read and beautiful to listen to.

Nuclear power gives us energy too cheap to meter, we battle back climate change with massive geoengineering projects, we all somehow stop being dicks to one another.

(The third step is the one I'm most worried about)

"wish I had something to hop on", they said for countless generations

This is really great, absolutely a style of post worth making anytime (not just in emergency situations).
