As someone who's cataloged serials & who has edited a little magazine, I've always been of two minds on the problems encountered when cataloging them. The right side of my brain says "anarchy for issue numbers!" while the left side has always said "sequential numbering isn't rocket science folks."

Excellent intro to Rare Books session this morning with a German Studies class looking at German literature during the Thirty Year's War. The students were awesome & great book sleuths. Even discovered a book at that may not be what it says it is. Always good to find biblio mysteries in the stacks.

Winding down the work week and came across this. "Mrs. Melmoth" needs a fuller biography...although I assume this is Charlotte Melmoth. Would love to work with a creative writing course that expands micro biographies like these.

Not so wonderful reminder of why serials can be a challenge to catalog. Three local catalog records for what are actually 4 serials titles in 6 different bindings that cross titles. Oh, and some issue numbers bound out of order & across volumes. Yeah, these'll have to be recataloged at some point...

Time to reshelve materials used during a wonderful class visit that served as a "intro to archives" and "decolonizing archives" session. We packed a lot into one session. Loved the student who stayed behind to ask "can I come visit just because I'm curious?" Yes, you can!

Re-watching the V mini series and just curious what is in the film canisters. They are stacked a too high, but at least they are horizontal. Audiovisual preservation counts even during an alien invasion...

Just some late night bibliographical work tonight. About to reach the final stages of this project. I now have more Aeon accounts than I wish to have, but so many colleagues at other institutions have been extremely helpful.
