Decades ago when I was a teenager I messed around and made a honey mustard chicken dish that was incredible. My mother took one bite said it was great and then said you know you won't be able to do that again. She was right.

That is true. I think the fact that it happened long ago is the main factor and that people in general are terrible with history and understanding how that affects them today. People treat things that happened 15 years ago like it's ancient history let alone this.

how britain profited off of slavery in the US. They don't acknowledge how many Brits worked to keep black people enslaved in the US. I don't know what is being taught but it isn't the whole truth.

My experience is purely anecdotal but I have been in too many arguments with British people about slavery in the US to agree with your statement. People absolutely do because they think that Britain ended the slave trade in the face while America continued. They don't acknowledge

The British were so against slavery that they happily bought slave grown cotton from the US. When the US Civil War started the hit to the cotton supply helped start a famine in Lancashire. They then went and fucked up India when they needed their cheap slave cotton. Fuck Britain.

If that is the bar a woman has to clear to be considered a good candidate then America is not ready for a female president. Because voters will happily elect any man who is less than that. Modern voters have elected a male pedo sociopath twice.

Some progressives were gearing up to blame black voters when the black vote as usual was strongest for the best candidate. Meanwhile check who the average white New Yorker voted for.

All the reps you mentioned represent districts that are majority white. You can look it up. Communities aren't monoliths but perhaps you need to actually spend time with folks in those communities to know them better.

I can't speak for other communities but I can tell you that a Trump supporting black candidate would go no where in any black majority district. I guy like Platner would struggle as well given what we know now.

How many of those marginalized Trumpist voters are running for a Senate seat? I hate to break it to you but those communities probably would not elect those people. Platner can work on himself without demanding power when he has demonstrated he probable won't use that power wisely given his history.

I think the problem is this supposed contrition pales in comparison to the harm done and the moral/psychological load being expected of marginalized people. This is largely white men telling everyone to "get over it".

He won't be kicked out because so many white progressives will always support someone like him. Frankly he probably reminds them of their own bigoted family and friends. They aren't different than the fascists. It is beyond terrible here.

Slow civil war against whom because let me tell you some of us have always been in the cross hairs of violent extremists. I don't have to comment on Kirk's shooting to have my life be in danger. I would be in danger whether he was shot or not.

It just really strikes me how so many people understand fascism, genocide, etc. from other country's and other people's history (Nazi Germany, Rwnada, etc.) when all the examples that you need to understand authoritarianism exist here in the US.
