When you bring an image with an alpha channel into Blender the default import settings should usually just set up the material for you. Have you gone into the shader editor and made sure your alpha channel is hooked up correctly?

WIP - I've spent some time learning how to composite in Blender and am starting to get a look that I'm reaaallly happy with. I think the 2D rim lighting especially brings it all together 🙂

Rigging update: I've found that Lattice deformers are amazing for quick and easy shape changes and they even work with the underlying bendy bones 'sculpting rig' I got going on.
Also figured out a way to rig clothing that can be easily manipulated that even creases and conforms to the body!
