Back to some history: In 1832, the Congregationalist bought the Episcopal Methodists out of their share of the building and used it exclusively until their current church was built further east on Main Street.

2 of the many headstones that were tended to this past year: Albert and Catherine Wicks. Albert's was reset and Catherine's was found next to her brother under several inches of soil.

We are very happy and proud to announce we are the recipients of a matching grant from The Gardiner Foundation of $7295! With this, we will be able to do a lot of restoration this coming year! So excited and honored!

By 1832, the Baptists no longer worshipped at The Union Church but opted to worship in congregants private homes until a church was built for them by The Smith Sisters on land owned by Charlotte Smith Keech. It's unclear if they ever used that building as they currently don't acknowledge this 🤷‍♀️

Three congregations, the Baptists, the Congregationalist and the Episcopal Methodist shared the building until 1832. Not sure what happened to the Presbyterians... moved to Brookhaven maybe...still looking into that....

That picture is of the one that replaced the original that was erected quickly and was reported to let the snow in. This building stood on that corner until the early 1960's

It all started with a little church building shared by area Baptists, Episcopal Methodists, Congregationalists and Presbyterians in 1791 on The Old South Country Road in Patchogue.....
