Games provide painless repetition. And laughing & learning makes the content unforgettable. It takes work & creativity to develop a variety of games based on the content. Do it & learners will beat down your door to take part in a welcome break from their routine. One they’ll never forget. 🧵/3

…in the ballrooms next door would complain about the laughter. It was the first breakfast session to sell out every year I did it. Adult learners remember content when it is relevant to their everyday life. It takes repetition of information 7 times for it to stick. 🧵/2

No. It is time for medicine to embrace gamification. I used to teach a breakfast session at the largest annual meeting for critical care nurses. We played games for 90 minutes- each about a different aspect of caring for patients with chest tubes. My goal was to have so much fun that people 🧵/n

Too many people forget about the blue circle until the patient values clash. Unfortunately, this is where we will be with parents who do not want their kids to receive vaccines. If we don’t get a handle on a compassionate approach to this interaction, we’re sunk.

I’m an RN who has taken care of children critically ill with pertussis (whooping cough). It was sad and totally preventable. A sound I will take to my grave.
