Funny thing is I agree with you on this. Just that in my experience it is the right q/maga lot that are the first to reach for the insults.

1) why would anyone assume superman has a secret identity?
2) it is mentioned in the film, and is a bit of silly comics lore, via his spectacles he uses superhypnotism.

That might be an issue if, throughout the long career of batman, the police had been on his side, but their have been many occasions when batman was considered to be a public enemy.

I was so excited when I saw the first ironjaw comic. I bought every atlas comic I could find as soon as they appeared. Loved them, even when each series had that step change moment.
I've bought the full run of comics at least 2 times from cheap back issue bins at conventions.
