I build robots, complain about Chicago’s mass transit, and do gay stuff. Sometimes all three at once

One of the most obvious signs of incompetence and mismanagement of public services are queues

As far as I know, they’re functionally equivalent.

I work for the board of elections & I know there’s a sizable workforce you can deputize to open a second center. At the very least you can have a worker go through the line to ensure everyone’s documents are correct

In Chicago, we need:
1. ADU legalization across the city
2. Eliminate mandatory parking minimums
3. Re-legalization of 4-flats by right

every day, week, and month that development is needlessly delayed costs money. Local and small developers are shut out of the process & large developers are forced to only propose 7+ story buildings to recoup their losses from permitting and red tape.

Thanks! Do you have any resources on hand to look into the history of the 78 and why development efforts have failed? I've heard a couple of explanations:
1. The city refuses to split it into smaller pieces
2. Funding falling through

But would love to learn more

A giant Mariano's, two small neighborhood cafes, a tiny late-night bodega, 8+ restaurants, and a bunch of other retail, all within a 2 minute walk of your house & a giant park

A project I'd like to get into is delving into the history of each of these lots (for example, why are the ones on Clybourn and Larrabee divided into tens of smaller parcels but the 78 is one giant lot?) and who owns them

Can't think of another American city that has this much vacant land just hanging out so close to the urban core

I'm doing some research on streets with the lowest number of underground utilities, best soil conditions, and streets where stations could be built with minimum expensive property acquisition, but for now, Chicago Ave seems like a good candidate

Finally, it can take advantage of the massive amount of development going on in and around Goose Island and Ukranian Village

Also from @jgrantglover.bsky.social, Chicago Avenue is one of the densest in the city:
