Rhabdomyosarcoma stole Ben. We fight on. Raised £299k+ for childhood cancer research at CCLG, and £35k+ for other charities

100% of all money raised goes into research. Pass The Smile is Ben's legacy

Rhabdomyosarcoma is classified into several sub types, including embryonal and alveolar, which differ in prognosis and treatment.

Ben had alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. It is very tricky to treat. The cause is unknown.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in children. Around 55 children are diagnosed with it each year in the UK.

In 2018, one of those 55 was Ben 💔

Around 1 in 500 children in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer by age 14.

Ben was just 6 years old when he was diagnosed.

It's never too early to talk about Christmas trees!

Yesterday, we held our summer get-together with some of our volunteers. The Christmas decs were out plus the festive tunes were on - too hot for Santa suits!

Ty to Myton Hospices for hosting and to the Rapid Relief Team for the amazing food!

Ben should be headed back to school this week.

We are thinking of all the families who have an empty doorstep instead of a back to school doorstep photo.

We hold you all in our hearts 💔

Sending love to all the dads out there on Fathers Day - and especially those dads whose little shining stars are now the brightest stars in the sky 💔

Wishing all the dads - and families - have the day that is full of whatever you need. Whatever your feelings are today, know that you are not alone

We were delighted to attend the @cclguk.bsky.social annual conference this week, both to learn new things and to help determine how families might get more involved in future years

It was lovely to meet several of Ben's consultants, and many of the BCH Nurses who cared for him ❤️

🎗️ International Childhood Cancer Day 🎗️

Do you know the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer?

Cancer symptoms can be very similar to other illnesses and vary between children. These are usually not cancer but please visit your dr if your child has any of these

World Cancer Day

In 2019 Ben and his mum spent the day in Morrisons collecting donations for @younglivesvscancer.bsky.social

A year later and his brother gave up his birthday to do the same in memory of his little brother 💔

A common misconception is that childhood cancer is rare

Love you Ben 💫🚀

On Friday we visited Dr Darrell Green & postgrad researcher Kirsty Soanes at the Biomedical Research Centre at UEA, along with our friends Lisa & David from Just George, to find out more about their new project studying the physical 3D shape of the gene mutation that causes rhabdomyosarcoma.

Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

To our oncology family, and to anyone who finds the Christmas period difficult for whatever reason, we are holding you so so very tightly in our hearts.

Go gently.

Peace and love ❤️🖤❤️🖤

Today is World Kindness Day. Every smile we share, every kind word we give freely, every kind word we receive gratefully, every time we help someone - it adds a light to the world and makes it a lighter place - in both senses of the word.
