I'd have put Cardiacs on the the top spot, but shout out to the Koenjihyakkei zeuhl album getting a place (didn't even realise it was re-issued, cheers Quietus!) Same with Coil - Black Antlers. The rest of the evening is now to be spent poring over the 85 odd projects I'd never even heard of 🤟 Bliss

New Yowie LP "Taking Umbrage" has stopped me in my tracks for the past couple of months. A friend who recommended it sold it to me by comparing it to "a 'shreds' overdub vid". It took a few listens to get there, but once it clicked it was brilliant fun. So chaotic and intricate! Spaghetti guitars!

I tried all month to listen to albums other than LSD and Doperider but found I was physically unable to. Literally everytime I wanted to hear music, it was one of those two records. Sensational stuff.

A pal who owns/runs a second hand record shop near me stumbled across a copy of Is This The Life 12" single and put it to one side for me without even asking, knowing full well it would be leaving in my hands the next time I went in to the shop. He was not wrong. Pride of place in my collection 💙

I thought they were absolutely unstoppable before I'd even got to Sing to God double LP. That was the album which cemented them as an all time favourite. Could not fathom how a band which was already so exciting and experimental and innovative still had a flawless double LP up their sleeves 🤣

Weirdly, my inroad was the one place where many seasoned veterans of the band tell first timers to avoid, that version of Tarred and Feathered on YouTube. Puts many off for being too wacky, but I was absolutely enraptured by it. Immediately went through that and all the early albums.

I was a relative latecomer to Cardiacs. Discovered them around 2008 I think, and they were exactly the band I had always wished had existed. My favourite song changes each time I listen to any record of theirs. Was gutted to have missed them when they were around.
