The chief concern in the Federalist Papers was for “factionalism.” We have fallen into that trap in the most inauspiciously way possible. If we have any hope of moving forward, we have to move beyond hating/fighting people for differing opinions.

This seems reductive. Three things strike me as true:
1. no other defendant would have these matters disposed criminally with the same fact pattern
2. the incoming appointees will try to find smoke where there's no fire
3. it feels icky because the norms were blown up in re: #1
This feels just.
