Christmas mass in a local Roman Catholic church. Masses in Christmas time are usually crowded with additional "napas" parishioners. A portmanteau of Natal (Christmas) and Paskah (Easter), it refers to people who attend masses only on those two special occasions.

Napas itself means "breath".

Picture from a bus rapid transit in Bandung. Called as "Teman Bus", it's a breakthrough as the first BRT system that is fully air-conditioned and stops at predefined stops only (thanks to GPS and door integration).

We Indonesians love food. Here are some examples from the Gempol area in Bandung. Left is Kupat Tahu: rice cake poured with peanut sauce. Right is more modern: espresso mixed with fresh fruit.

Here in Indonesia, parents who have more money send their kids to private school, even with the fact that it costs significantly higher than public schools. The popular private schools are usually religiously backed or have an international curriculum.

In photo is St. Aloysius, a Catholic school.

The "bandeng" fish. Slow cooked until all the bones are so soft you can eat them. We usually have them with rice, our staple. Some Indonesians consider every meal without rice as snacks.

As parent with small kids, I try to watch 16+ shows when my kids are sleeping. One of the times is at dusk, just after the first daily Islamic call for prayer (adzan) starts.

Motorcyclists here in Bandung try to squeeze into even the smallest space on the road. Therefore the authority reserves the space at junctions with traffic lights. When it goes green, they have priority to move forward first.

Snapshot of what's going on at the main road in Bandung. A guy, commonly known as "Pak Ogah" is helping drivers at the U-turn, in exchange for IDR 500 (USD 0,05).
