with the literal boomers consuming easily 5x the amount of tiktok brainrot that I do. I may not connect 1-1 with people my age, but the cultural cornerstones and current-life-stage-happenings we do share undeniably shape the way we think, talk, and act. Over-valued, yes, but definitely not useless

Same here, I'm from a rural area way up north that's culturally insulated. So while I'm older Gen-Z: my family had bunny-ear local TV and dial-up on the dinosaur PC until ~2015, and I had handme down movies and reruns. Then I enlisted and the culture is still some bizarre 1990-2020 amalgamation

I think generational divides are taken way too seriously; people have been and always will be the same. That said, peers made by similar lived experiences will also continue until society stops changing. "Generations" can def seem stupid, but they have a function in communication if nothing else

He was a character lmao. It's been around 5 years since I last talked to him, hope he's doing alright.

We went halvesies on groceries, but he only ever cooked maybe 3 times and would either eat the food I meal prepped or just eat slices of bread or vegetables by themselves. He didn't like taking out the trash or helping clean the kitchen, but otherwise the best roommate I've ever had (yes, sad)

And I'd just continue on confused what he's going on about. Often it'd be like this example where he asks for my opinion, and then he'd get all riled up because my opinion was "wrong". Then he'd leave and I'd just be left there like, "was he just fucking with me?" I never understood the point.

Me: "What are you talking about? I don't know what else to say dude, I just like how creative and smart lyricists can be."
Him: "No, I just know you aren't listening to the lyrics. The [?flow of the music?] is the most important part of a song"

Him: "Do you prefer music with lyrics or without?"
Me: "I mean that's hard to say and it really depends. Why?"
"No, which do you prefer"
"I don't know, probably with lyrics I guess. Why?"
"No, that's stupid. You're not listening to the words in a song."

"I'm crushing your head! That's what I'm doing!"

Valid and real! imo he seems like one of those middling actors that either needs a good director or compelling writing he can actually connect with, else he mega flounders lmao
