We design alternative mental health help systems for Black and racially minoritised communities in London. #BlackMentalHealthMatters
"For generations, Black men have been told, implicitly and explicitly, by themselves, by others in the community, and by dominant patriarchal narratives, to “man up,” to stay strong and to shoulder pain in silence.’"

An invaluable and interactive afternoon, inviting new collaborators into the partnership to help shape and steer Harambee’s work.

We want to ensure it stays true to its purpose: building fairer, more caring systems of help and healing, led by and for Black communities across Lambeth and Southwark.

Did you know that Harambee means “to pull together”?

Last week, #Harambee project partners (Lougborough Community Centre (LCC) @ Max Roach, Milk Honey Bees, Parentskills2GO CIC, Word on the Curb & us!) came together, joined by seven community members from #Lambeth and #Southwark.

Partisan were thrilled to attend the #Lambeth Peer Action Collective Research Launch, hosted by @high-trees.bsky.social on Tuesday.

Their latest reported, Trusted Adults & Safe Spaces, explores how youth organisations and trusted adults can protect young people from violence.

The path to freedom is still being laid, and apartheid and state-violence are real threats to that vision. Palestinian people have the right to self-determination, and the right to decide what their realities, and their futures, look like.

Conflict is never the solution.

"We will raise our voice for Gaza, we will raise our voice for Palestine"

This weekend saw over tens of thousands of people come together for lasting peace in Gaza.

Our CEO, Jay Perkins attended what proved a vital reminder that resistance to oppression is real and thriving.

4. Regeneration

Our current systems take more than they give, sustaining white supremacy & other forces of oppression.

We must return to what our bodies, cultures and communities once knew - small acts of resistance honouring what came before to create something different

3. Repair

In our lives, rupture is inevitable. Repair is thus vital
Many of us have been harmed by years of systemic violence (capitalism, racism, homophobia, misogyny, colonialism ) and subsequent injustice.

Repair means tending to that inherited pain - not with quick fixes, but with steady care
October 10, 2025 at 10:02 AM
2. Relationships

Relationships are what make the world go round, and sites of radical transformation.

What if our systems gave time and space for relationships to thrive, between others and to ourselves?

1. Redistribution

Right now, power, knowledge and resources are held by too few.

How can we be more active in featuring redistribution in our work/lives?

This #WorldMentalHealthDay, we're drawing attention not to individual actions, but to mechanism that, if centred by the architects, policymakers and decision-makers in our world (in the broadest sense of those terms), could create the conditions for mental health & wellbeing for all.
October 10, 2025 at 10:02 AM
Tomorrow is #WorldMentalHealthDay.

Whilst we realise the importance of raising awareness of mental health & positive messaging about seeking support + self-care, we believe that current systems and institutions need to be reimagined, to fundamentally create well-being & health for all.

Our #MyEnds work shows us that being in #community matters.

From showing up to fortnightly sessions, to offering ideas & suggestions linked to creating #safety in Lewisham, young people are invested in their neighbourhood.

"Community-led research isn't the easy route...but it leads to solutions that go deeper, and impact that runs longer" says Theo Field-Pellew, Researcher.

Working in the Emergence is messy.
It's scary. It's unclear.
But, we embrace this uncertainty on the path to new possibilities.

In our latest blog, our CEO reflects on our approach to designing a world that prioritises #healing:

What should we prioritise to centre collective healing in decision-making?

If you're a #policymaker or leader, then consider the questions below. From our new blog "Working in Emergence: a beginning, not a blueprint" 👇
