My Mare was very ill this Evening owing to eating so much of the Garden Grass to day. I had her rode out for an Hour and afterwards gave her some Gin and small Beer - and she soon was better.

Poor old Aunt Anne was so bad this morning that we all thought her dying. She was quite delirious owing I believe to drinking so much Rum, being so very cold.

We went to the Vice-Chancellor at Queens Coll concerning Tom’s Coffee-House and an Auction of Books of bad repute now selling at the Black Horse in St Clements. The Vice Chancellor was very hurried… very fearful of doing any thing that is disagreeable.

My ‘William of Wykham’ that I sent to be framed about a Week ago is not begun, nor likely to be, therefore I have taken it away from Williams’s. N.B. They told me a Number of Lyes concerning the Picture.
