That's very kind. I'm sure they'd love help towards replacing the clotting bandage (I forget it's special name 🤣).
It cost $42, so it'll take a while before they can replace it.

If they're in the run most of the time then a run extention is a good idea.

Chooks are lovely

They're very easy to keep alive. Clean water everyday and keep their feeder topped up.
Clean their run once a week. We give ours ivomectin once a year when they're off the lay.

I highly recommend an eglu. Raised ones are best. They're very easy to clean and reduce red mite.

Blimey!

Oh and they built up their med bag and keep it stocked themselves. Out of their benefit money.
November 22, 2025 at 2:23 AM
They really would. We're all hoping that they can become well enough to train.
November 22, 2025 at 2:13 AM
We're so proud of them. They deal with so much shite and still their first response is always to help others.

They really are.

I was out and came home in time for giving Rey a hug.
November 22, 2025 at 12:48 AM
They are always ultra calm in an emergency
November 22, 2025 at 12:44 AM
For context Rey has a first aid background and did some search and rescue in their late teens before they got sick.
They always keep a full medkit and take it with them when they go to Welly.
They've had to use it surprisingly often.
They'd like to train as a paramedic one day if their health allows
November 22, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Cut was to the bone and ambulances were too far away. So after talking on phone to paramedics the neighbors have rushed her to a&e.
Thank feck Rey didn't go to Welly today.

Pt 5
November 22, 2025 at 12:39 AM
Neighbours can't get 111 to start with. By the time they connect Rey has assessed, put on a tournique, packed the wound with anticlotting bandages, wrapped it and is calming everyone.

Pt 4
November 22, 2025 at 12:37 AM
Michael sprints inside and busts into Reys room,
"We need you and your med kit now! X has put her arm through a window "
Rey leaps out of bed. Grabs their med kit and runs barefoot.

Pt 3
November 22, 2025 at 12:35 AM
So he heads out to see what's wrong. One of our young neighbours has accidentally put her arm through a window.
It'd bad.
