I felt for sure that we were in the end-game during the Mueller and Smith probes, but the media landscape now is so different from the one that existed during Watergate. I fear that without real video of Trump deep-throating Clinton, the fuck-weasel will skate.

I just learned the term for the 250th anniversary: semiquincentennial. I'll use it in a sentence. It's fucking tragic that that moron Trump is president for our semiquincentennial.

FWIW, I know a few radical literary critics who are actually rather pragmatic in their actual approaches to politics. They understand the difference between aspiration and pragmatism. Their writing explores Utopian ideals and yet they know not to throw away their vote, for example.

Serious question: do we know if there's a system in place to make sure that official archives haven't been modified? For example, a digital signature (e.g., md5 or SHA-1) that is entered into the records and archived (with time and date stamps) along with the documents themselves?

At the very least, AI can make dumb luck less expensive. I've made a few discoveries/breakthroughs by serendipity or completely by accident.

You know "the media" pretty well, I would assume. What do you think the chances are that their coverage reflects this shift in strategy? Teen Vogue? Maybe. NYT and WaPo? I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I used to comfort myself with the thought that even though our elected leaders are morons, there are probably experts behind the scenes guiding policy. I'm not sure that's true anymore.
