Parenting Across Scotland

Parenting Across Scotland is a network of charities focussing on issues affecting parents in Scotland. By supporting families we support children.

There are many valuable whole family support services in the third sector. Much can also be learned from international models such as Open Kindergartens, which Parenting Across Scotland has been piloting in Scotland alongside partners, thanks for the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund.
November 19, 2025 at 10:48 AM
Our fourth manifesto call is to deliver universal and intensive whole family support to all that need it, incorporating Open Kindergartens as an effective means of universal provision.

Too many feel they don't have adequate help or support in their parenting journey - this must change.

Parties should commit to investing in research about and with Scottish families, co-produce policies and strategies with families, and build strong relationships with organisations supporting families.
By doing so, we can create a Scotland where families are reflected and supported in policy.
November 12, 2025 at 12:42 PM
Our third manifesto call is putting parents' and carers' views and experiences at the heart of decision making. Their voices must be valued to truly understand the constraints families experience and what can help, acknowledging differing experiences across demographics and communities.

This #TrusteesWeek, we want to say a massive thank you to all our trustees who dedicate their time to helping us achieve PAS' vision. They are an invaluable source of guidance, expertise and support to us!
November 6, 2025 at 12:19 PM
Following UNCRC incorporation into Scots Law, it is important to ensure parents and carers know how to advocate for children if their rights are not met.
November 5, 2025 at 12:28 PM
Our second manifesto call is to ensure parents and carers are confident champions of their children's rights by increasing their understanding of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
November 5, 2025 at 12:27 PM
As a first step we propose increasing the SCP to £40 per child per week in 2026, with a further uplift to £55 by the end of the next parliamentary term. This action is necessary if the Scottish Government is to meet the 2030 child poverty targets (which are currently not on target to be met).
October 29, 2025 at 10:41 AM
Our first manifesto call is for the Scottish Child Payment (SCP) to be increased to £55 by 2030 to reduce child poverty.

Evidence shows us that increasing the SCP is the most effective way to meet the 2030 targets. As members of the End Child Poverty Coalition, we jointly call for this increase.

Having launched our 2026 Manifesto, we are going to be taking a deeper look each week at the six calls.

We believe that, if introduced, the six calls would have a profound and positive impact on the lives of parents, carers and their families in Scotland.
