Healthcare “debate” is so boring. The big questions have already been answered. Let’s just do multi-payer like Germany or Japan does and move on.

I am for a mandatory political retirement age at 65 or that’s the oldest you can be on Election Day. Private industry forcible retires CEOs around that age. No more gerontocracy !
Pelosi can't stop being a puppet master.
It is so infantilizing to the House leadership to have a B team of octagenarians scheming behind their backs and aiming directly at their most promising young talent. (Because AOC once showed up to a protest? Is that what this is about?)

Neither 45/47 nor 46 could stand up to the longshoreman holding our ports hostage. Sad. We have the worst ports in the world. We need automation. Just pay them money to go away

Democracy is an obstacle to freedom when it comes to housing
America's fucked up housing market is one of the biggest drivers of wealth inequality right now. Over the same time period that mortgages are skyrocketing, the poor are getting poorer while the rich get richer.

I wrote a whole article about it, here's the link: shorturl.at/WsS8E
The Sneaky Way the Government is Making You Poor
Poor Americans have lost 47% of their net worth since 2001, while the wealthy watched their income triple in the same time period. This kind of inequality is destroying our society. So what's making t...

I think we should give school kids free lunches and also we should make that food good. I hated public school food especially in elementary school. No more cardboard pizza please !

Policy makers were stuck between a rock and a hard place in 2008 because yes the banks gave out bad loans and yes bailing them out made people angry and felt wrong but also yes people shouldn’t have taken those loans and yes if we let the banks fail it would been apocalyptic.
An underrated explanation for why bankers weren't sent to prison after the 2008 financial crisis is that when prosecutors brought what they thought was a winning case, the two guys got acquitted.

Living beneath your means is important. That being said, telling middle class or UMC people “spend less, stop being irresponsible” is not the best political strategy, despite it also being true
I’m always struck that the people repeating the bogus “60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck” stat never follow it up with any proposals to increase the savings rate.

Concerning
The worsening bird flu situation is an alarming reminder that years after Covid we’re still not taking pandemic defense seriously enough even though we’ve learned a lot about what does and doesn’t work.

In another break from election-related commentary, I try to look at what it would look like to have family-friendly high rises with large multi-bedroom units and common courtyard spaces where kids can play safely unsupervised.
