Another reason to watch: the movie is based on a screenplay by Akira Kurosawa.

Roger Ebert said at the time, "One of the best adventure movies I have ever seen."

The practical stunts in this are jaw-dropping - no CGI, just pure '80s action mastery from stunt legend Max Kleven. At under 2 hours, it's a masterclass in tension and pacing.
Fun fact: this film put Konchalovsky so high on Hollywood's radar that he was shortlisted to direct The Godfather III!

“With my 007 career spanning nearly 60 incredible years, I am stepping back from producing the James Bond films to focus on art and charitable projects,” Wilson said in the statement. “Barbara and I agree, it is time for our trusted partner, Amazon MGM Studios, to lead James Bond into the future.”

"The deal marks the end of the iron grip the Broccoli family had on the franchise. Barbara’s father, Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, was one of the original producers of the Bond films and handed over control of his production house in 1995 to her and Wilson."

The SS Great Britain conquered the Atlantic 32 times between 1852 and 1875, pioneering the steam-sail hybrid technology that revolutionized ocean travel in the mid-1800s.

A fascinating glimpse into an era when crossing the Atlantic meant months at sea, not hours by air.
When she set out on her first voyage to NYC in 1845, SS Great Britain was the largest passenger ship ever built, and she would go on to transport over 30,000 people during her 41-year working life.

According to the director, Lise de Baissac's involvement in the resistance alongside her brother Claude inspired the screenplay for this film.

➡️ "A war thriller in classic style, with superb central performances which … keep you hooked from start to gripping finish." - Kat Brown, Empire Magazine⬅️

This spy thriller hits all the right notes - seamlessly weaving real-world espionage, historical drama, and edge-of-your-seat action. Even better, it shines a long-overdue spotlight on the incredible women of the French Resistance, whose stories France somehow managed to forget for decades.

Mind-blowing footage of Honecker's mansion, especially the kitchen decked out with high-end West German Bosch appliances - luxuries completely unavailable to ordinary East Germans. While preaching socialist equality, the regime's leader secretly indulged in Western comforts, denied to his people.

A masterclass in showing democracy's true cost. The way they captured King Haakon's inner turmoil as Norway faces Nazi invasion... devastating and powerful. Norwegian cinema continues to deliver. 🇳🇴
Emotional to the very end.

Directed by Erik Poppe. 2hs 10min. Watch it!
