To celebrate #TransDayOfVisibility this Monday, I created a zine. As a parent of a trans teen, I made this to help others understand how to truly support parents & caregivers of trans youth bc it truly does take a village.

The title reads: Lost & Found Black Child Presents: A Guide On How 2 Show Up 4 Black Trans Youth Showing Up: Supporting Black Trans Youth This zine was inspired by Trans Day of Visibility, a day dedicated to celebrating trans lives. But trans visibility, safety, and support must be ongoing, not just recognized once a year. This zine is about showing up for Black trans youth which also includes: showing up for their parents, and for the communities that surround them. As a parent of a trans child, I know firsthand how much love and support matter, but I also know that the endless love I have for him isn’t isn’t enough. Black trans kids not only need love from their caregivers but they aslo need need a village, tangible resources, and real action from those who claim to care to be able to exist in a society that doesn’t want them to exist. Black trans youth and their families are left to navigate this world in isolation. Many of us are living in stealth for safety reasons, which makes visibility complicated. But visibility alone doesn’t create change—action does. This zine is for anyone who wants to be part of that action. Whether you’re a parent, an ally, a friend, or a family member, I hope this helps you think about how you can show up in real, meaningful ways.
