like even if i never get another booking for the rest of my life, this couple booked me bc the bride is best friends with one of my couples from last year. they reached out bc they wanted ~me~ and signed a contract bc they trust ~me~.

I've been in the industry for 10 years. 2023 was truly the absolute worst year of my life for a number of reasons, but a lot them were because of the company I was working for and I was very close to leaving the industry all together. I'm so glad I didn't.

i really really don’t know what to do. also fuck unpaid internships, bc that just means the only people who can accept the position are people who can afford to work for free .. which is usually one specific kind of person.

i could leave the industry and the town but that just makes it harder for potential bipoc clients to see themselves reflected, too.

i hate networking bc the abject mediocrity of some of the people in my field is insane. it’s also a very cliquey industry and the mean girl energy is rampant.

i created a list of 4 small cleaning tasks to complete this weekend and i have completed two side quests that were not on the list and absolutely did not need to happen today :|

also for our 10 year anniversary last month all we did was go to dinner and the only reason that happened was bc one of my couples gave me a gift card as a tip and i made the reservation.

like didn’t even have the babies do a little craft, no flowers, or favorite snacks. and in general we aren’t big holiday people so I wasn’t expecting anything major but still .. he just didn’t even try ?
