kindly asked if i'd reshare these here as well.
It means so much when you read a poem and find that it has been remembered after several years.
Thank you Matt and Black Bough!

Diolch yn fawr iawn!

Off to Spike Island Cork for the final day of the Spike Island Literary Festival.
An incredible three days delivered by Cobh's very own bestseller Michelle Dunne.

First time meeting one of these fellas in the wild.

Found this is the back page. Who ever owned this before it ended up in my hands via Alan Prim Books (Bibliotherapy) in Youghal was at UD Leiria V Portimonense in August 2024. UD Leiria won 3-0 and all.
Moss & Charlie would deffo approve.
Kevin Barry would get a book out it.

The bould Kevin Barry can write a bit.
"Night boat to Tangier" devoured under the poplars. Coots and the cat cry of a buzzard for company this morning. Would Moss & Charlie Red approve?

The next holiday read under the poplars.
@davidgrann.bsky.social’s The Wager is an outrageous sea tale. Wreck, mutiny, and the ultimate greed at the heart of a gluttonous empire.
A raw reminder that history can be written by survivors, though the final edits may arrive centuries later.

A familiar auld friend in France. Much like myself today, soaking up the sun.

Holiday reading beneath the poplar trees. Ernie O'Malley, a native of Castlebar #Mayo, my home town, was a rebel & writer. 'On another man's wound' is an extraordinary work. Beautifully written, it's grounded in the landscapes & its people. A window to a world we'll never know.

Neighbours are very organised altogether.

Au revoir l'Irlande ! Bonjour les vacances !

A reminder from Facebook this afternoon. Doesn't time absolutely fly. Hard to imagine that tomorrow, seven years ago, we returned home on LÉ Samuel Beckett from Operation SOPHIA.

Hard to beat an afternoon by the sea in good company. Great to see you Nicholas. Safe and happy travels to you all. @dedalusdenaries.bsky.social

Office of the day. Incredible day in Youghal for a carriage exchange.
RNLI volunteers working as #OneCrew with the tech & logs team as #OneCrew
The community support for their lifeboat and crews is deeply appreciated.

That built a little frustration, however as the weather was blowing a little, and I didn't want him hurting himself, I "handcuffed" him for exercise. I didn't want to place actual cuffs (below) on him in case he fell down a stairs and got hurt. I didn't search groins on exercise.

Mute Swan pair with a big brood of cygnets.
This pond & scrubland is teeming with young birds. The Moorhen chicks are so light they walk on top of the pond weed while the cygnets & ducklings plough channels.

So pleased to have made a contribution to a collective story telling project with @nathankfinney.com
Nate is the founder and current president of @milwritersguild.bsky.social
It's shaping up to be a real thriller, and the early contributors are a hard act to follow.
On its way now to #Wexford

Finally got St.Colmans Peregrine Falcon in my binoculars this evening.
The camera on this phone isn't up to much but the magnificent creature is perched on one of the gargoyles!

Just some of the engineering team on Eithne. To say the old girl wasn't exactly designed for the temperatures would be an understatement. But these young sailors did us proud. They improvised, they adapted, and they overcame. As Chief, I couldn't have asked for a better team.

Is extraordinary to watch the continued destruction across the pond. I had earnestly hoped that the decade of healing they'll need could have started when this hateful ideology was defeated and consigned to history in January '25. How naive of me.

Oifig an lá. The RNLI memorial in Poole. Over 800 names inscribed. In most cases, the names listed on the memorial saved the lives of others before losing their own.
What an incredible legacy of courage and selflessness.

My office view on Monday.

The sun was bright, the breeze salty, and a Hooded Crow was admonishing me quite loudly for disturbing its breakfast as it ate mussels on the wire above me.

Not to shabby this auld island all the same.

What a great photo. Isn't it great to experience something new with the incredible universe above us.
Too many spend too long looking down, we could all do with staring up a bit more. Thanks for sharing.
