🔭 Astronomer at Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur, Nice, France: planets, asteroids, Gaia mission.
Currently at the top of impact probability with Earth, 2024 YR4, a ~50 m asteroid discovered last December 25. Impact probability close to 2% in 2032.
Improving its orbit is now the priority... before it gets too faint! It rates at degree 3 of the Torino scale cneos.jpl.nasa.gov/sentry/torin...

The amazing @esa.int Gaia telescope is taking its last measurements today

Gaia has had a tremendous impact on astronomy. Without the easy to access (and use) data releases, a lot of the work I do would be impossible

Right now, the Gaia mission collects the last observations. After 10.5 years. Other ~6 years of work to come for scientists to complete the data reduction...
