Poor old John's been on a bad streak lately in our games. actually for most of this series of LFT, he's not had any rub of the green, even in CC where I am a legendary failure.

My opponent couldn't catch a break all game with his morale checks, failing many of them and box-carring more than few. While his Rally Phases were equally poor.

My 10-2 couldn't seem to miss and there were several rate tears.

This playing was decided by Turn 6 but maybe an outlier.

There is a Solitaire Module (out of print and very expensive) BUT and this is huge BUT, it is effectively a very different game & most importantly you need to know how to play the game already to make use of the solitaire module effectively anyway. IMO SASL loses the cut and thrust of the game.

ASL is not something you pick up and play. It does require a substantial commitment in time and effort just to learn the game & even more to become a good player. There's a reason ASL is seen as a llfestyle game. It's not a good investment for casual gaming nor was it ever designed to be.

That will allow you to determine if the game system is for you at a reasonable cost. If you do enjoy SK1, then you might want to buy SK2 and Sk3 to add Vehicles and Guns. After that you can either move to full ASL or remain in the SK system which TBH I dislike as it's an ersatz version of the game.

My experience is worthless because I started with SL and progressed through COI, CoD and GI in the 80s and then moved to ASL immediately in 1986.

Howeer my opinion is that you get Starter Kit 1, play every scenario twice, learn how the rules work by playing but also read the rules thoroughly

So for a fair while we've been playing a house rule regarding SAN activations that has lessened the suck.

Upon a activated sniper roll of one, the SAN is reduced by one permanently. This can end up with the SAN being eliminated. It reduces the chance of the SAN destroying the scenario.
