I feel the same way. I think its coming from inconsistency how secure the place is. Sometimes security knows what you are hiding between your butt cheeks and other times they cant bother follow most crucial person for the whole company.

But for top level decision making I don't think all approaches fit. Personally I go with Utility or any State Graphs approaches. And I find BTs really hard to work with unless AI is extremely simple. And this approach is for action games with independent agents.

I think it's important to differentiate between more granular behaviors and top-level decision-making. With this approach, behaviors can be implemented in many ways, simple scripts, FSM, BTs as long as they represent behavior lifetime.

Imo UE docs always had content issues and not explaining 60% of the features. I think there was an improvement but its weird that they focus so much on presentation where I think there were no issues and somehow they end up making it worst.

The same formular is applied to hand motions and locomotion alike. There's hundreds of follow up papers trying to improve it, as such simple formula does not cover all the cases.
