Flooded Jetty - Coniston

I was stood shin deep in very, very cold water for this one as I'd forgotten my wellies.

A photo taken looking down a jetty towards the centre of a lake and the opposite shoreline. The water level is so deep that the deck boards are covered by the water. The water has been smoothed over with the use of a long exposure which gives it a milky appearance. closer to the camera the deck boards are visible. The posts of the jetty stand clear of the water and seem to converge in the distance. A sign hang from the first posts and it says that the pier is closed for repair. On the horizon a cloud is little up by the sun casting orange light on the water of the lake towards the camera.

The Pier 📷

I'd been down the far end at sunrise. The thick cloud on the horizon meant it was pretty underwhelming. I was almost back at the shore when the sun finally broke through.

Blue hour at Roker 📷

This was 45mins before sunrise when the colours were at their most vibrant. The sunrise wasn’t going to amount to much, too much cloud, so I never went down onto the pier.

I decided to give this location another try as tide height and our return from holiday coincided. The sun from the day had deserted me, so I decided to maximise the negative space with a moody mono.

A change in entry, I didn't think I'd get back in time to edit this shot from last night's blue hour. The tide hadn't quite got that far up the beach by sunset. I was walking away when I grabbed this.
