Sure, but Destiny was still lightning in a bottle, because it birthed a whole genre of games, and while doing so managed to make Bungie a gigantic studio at the same time. It changed the industry, same way they did with Halo. So it's an accurate description for Destiny, even if it was bad first.

Right! I think most Destiny players would agree. I'm specifically speaking on the "lighting in a bottle" statement from the comment i was replying to, and how that diminishes the actual work put in by the devs to course correct player sentiment and not rest on their status as a studio alone.

I would disagree with the lightning in a bottle statement. Destiny’s reputation was in the crapper until The Taken King expansion and Destiny 2’s reputation was also bad until Forsaken. As someone who was there for every expansion, the franchise was 10 years of hard work and iteration.

I work for Activision, (environment art and props) and I can’t imagine not having a legal process for a AAA studio that prevents this. My directors will immediately call out any words, symbols, and decals that are new in our work. This reeks of mismanagement and crunch.

in 10 years i have never made a consistent income from this work and i am tired of designers from huge companies moodboarding and parasitising my designs while i struggle to make a living.
