Before/after: They can’t all be sexy original creations. This was a full tear down and refinish job. Hopefully the client will get another 50 years out of this mahogany built-in book case. #woodworking #refinishing #library

My friend recently asked me to create a sign for his cabin. I think this take is a nice revision on the #northwoods tradition.

Ambrosia maple. The house is enameled with a spar urethane finish. Jatoba frame and some solar lights will keep the see-thru windows illuminated at night.

Custom set of hand plane hangers with a matching block plane pouch. 10 oz harness leather, 1mm ritza tiger thread in black on 6mm spacing. A few brass rivets will match with the brass mounting screws and finish washers. #woodworking #leather #leatherwork #leathercraft #handtools #woodshop #handmade

Midcentury modern coffee table in walnut. I call it the Alvorada, any guesses why?

Sure! Definitely could be. Same effect on the knob which cleaned up to also be a really nice rosewood, although visibly different than the tote.

Bought a 1910s Stanley No. 8 to restore and the tote was this weird yellow color and the finish was worn off. I figured it was a replacement. But after sanding, I was shocked to find this rosewood underneath. It sanded like oxidation, not a stain or finish. Anyone ever seen something like this?

The electrolysis machine is up and running. Knocking the rust off some older Sampson dividers/calipers. Tool restoration is my other other hobby.

The 10/4 finished out at 2.25”. It’s much richer and browner than steamed/kilned commercial walnut. Now…what to make??

I love this chair & photo. It’s comfortable and adjustable. The lighting here is perfect. It highlights the black Latigo leather and brings the reds out of the padauk legs, while hinting at something stately and adventurous. Available.

Mystery rosewood (I suspect cocobolo) cooking spoon. Another scrap project from last week. Projects for this week will include stropping the bejezus out of my carving / whittling knives.

Scrap bin project from this weekend - Osage and purpleheart kids kitchen knives. Walnut and brass dress up the handles a little bit. #woodworking #montessori #kidsinthekitchen #toddlertools

More audiophile/vinyl products in development! This is a vinyl easel or record display stand. Made from marine-grade brass and holding the hottest release of the week.

In stock on the website.

Not everything turns out as you envision. This experiment was supposed to be Midcentury/Atomic pattern with brass and steel inlay into walnut. I thought it would be a good study piece for a distinctively-framed wall art but it didn’t stand out. 🤷‍♂️ On to the next one…

One of the best parts of being a craftsman is using your skills & tools to create something unique for your situation.

I needed a kids table, but not a Fancy Kids Table. With cedar fencing, a 4x4 and an afternoon, you can have a (quick) custom solution for your problem.

Getting settled back in the shop after the holidays, various illnesses and general malaise.

To get these leatherworking tools off my bench I have to finish the project.

Baby steps through all (gestures broadly) this.

Was late to tiktok but enjoyed peeking in a bit while there was time. My own videos never hit the big time and I only had so much time to devote. The politics of the ban are messed up, as we all know. Anyway, welcome refugees. Here’s a chair I make and sell.

Does anyone in art or printmaking have the inside track on Marushka prints from the 70s? Been trying to find more info on this 5 piece print for a while. It’s huge! (48”+) but outside of what I’ve found re: the company online.

I love these flat files for organizing small parts. I’ve gone through #diy divider systems, Schaller boxes, and found containers but the best so far are these Milwaukee low packout organizers with custom 3D printed dividers.

Edge grain wall-mounted desk made with 1950s-era reclaimed solid core plywood. I don’t think it would work with modern plywood but it was great to find a use for this salvaged material. #woodworking #maker #homeoffice
