People don't seem to realize what an insane number of times that is for one human to wire money to another, especially in the 90's! No PayPal, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, etc etc. It was a pain to wire $.

Dang, they must be STRONG!! I've picked one up before. Sadly it was passed away, hit by a car in my coastal city but WOW, are they HEAVY! Holding up two?
I'm 5'10" and quite strong. I had to wrap both arms around it to pick it up. Perhaps these are smaller than coastal Virginia river otters?

There's also a second ear piercing I did with a thumb tack and an eraser behind my earlobe in a nearly black out rage. After trying to slit my wrists and not succeeding. I don't wear an earring in it so it's less visible but it never healed over.

At 50, the first ones name is almost gone from being carved into my own wrist in a dissociative fugue state.
I sat there at dinner for a few weeks with a bloody name on my wrist, clearly visible. None of my family noticed, or cared if they did notice.
Now it's a line after 4 decades.

It was well worth looking at his face to see the disappointment.
