I RETURN!!

In all seriousness, I am working on another game. Stay tuned for more news, as I plan to post my progress here.

(No, the game has nothing to do with the gif)

The second-to-last puzzle for my game. Pseudocoding definitely helped a lot with planning this one. I already have the final one all planned out, so this should be pretty easy. I am a bit worried about the textures and sound, but I'm hoping it'll be quick.

I hadn't added a character that followed waypoints yet, so I thought I would add it to this area of the map. I will also confess that the reason this is so big is to take up some of the space on the map as well. I'm probably going to fill up some of the space in those turns.

Messing with another one of the reflection puzzles. I was trying to fiddle with the camera, but I think a sudden rotation of the camera actually adds to the disorientation. Kinda enjoy messing with the player in that way, even if I'm the only one suffering right now LOL.

So, the game "Mirror Mirror" finally has a puzzle system🎉 that involves a mirror (kind of). So far, the movement and sprite are reflected, but there's no actual puzzle yet. Thankfully, since this is working, I can probably copy and paste the code and do slight tweaks later.

Now that I've got this working, I realize this is more "juiciness" than actual gameplay, but it does tie the game together. I'm pretty much going to hand-draw all aspects at this point, because I like the style. The rest of the doodle assets can wait, more worldbuilding....

I've started planning the scenes for my trailer, and I have a few ideas so far, though one of them is something I haven't finished coding into the game yet. Hopefully, more will come to me as I continue to work on the game. I have a lot of work I still need to do.....

I probably won't take up all of this space, but I'm liking the map I'm putting together so far. I like the maze & mirror theme that I inadvertently created. I added some dialogue to the shards, and each of them moves in unique ways, mimicking the player, doing the opposite, etc.

So, I finally had the chance to work on my game again. I got the animations all working properly, so now I can finally get into making it more game-like rather than a walking sim. First things first: a map, and then maybe some button-operated doors.

I was thinking about my game some more, and I realized that a lot of what I planned to do seems to share some similarities with "Omori." Framing it this way allowed me to refine some of the ideas I wanted to implement in a more visual manner. I'll talk about it more in another post.

The next game I plan to make, "Mirror | rorriM" will explore reflections and identity. I will mess with reflection probes, and potentially even "Screen Space Reflections." I'm not entirely sure if I want to stick with a 2D platformer or make a single-level 3D experience.

Just thought I would share this funny bug I ran into when developing "Just One More." I was experimenting with the level system, and one of the parameters ended up not stopping, which resulted in the infinite generation of saucers.

My latest game, "Just One More," is out on Itch! Check it out here at: pancayk.itch.io/just-one-more. It's a 2D abstract art arcade game, hope you all enjoy!

I finally figured out my issue with both the scoring and life systems. Before, if a player was hit or a saucer was hit, sometimes the score would go up more than once. It was irregular.

I've changed the character controller, added some borders, and best of all, a working life system that instantiates a new player. I haven't set it up so it spawns in a new player when dying yet. I think getting the enemies to fire before working on a respawn comes first. #SmallGameStudio

I've decided to take what I made for project 3.1 and add to it. So far, my goal is to create everything that would make it a true "clone" of Space Invaders, and then once that's all done, I can add my flair to the game, to make it my own.

BECOME A GREAT ARTIST IN JUST 10 SECONDS. Is the title for this game. Each button does something different, and some of them even have sound effects attached to them. It's pretty fun because you'll always be making something different each time. #SmallGameStudioArcade3

PONGS is a library of 36 different pong games, each with super interesting twists. I played B.U.T.T.O.N PONG, it was pretty funny. #SmallGameStudioArcade3

"Ambivalence" is a side scroller. If you don't move, you get hit by spikes chasing you from the left. They stop chasing you once you reach the purple bar. I feel like the message is trying to convey that over the course of time you will change, but you're not alone? #SmallGameStudioArcade3

"melt" was made for the first "Emotions and Feelings" game jam. Despite its very simple controls and art style, you can really feel the sense of intimacy between the circles, which you have complete control over. #SmallGameStudioArcade3

Loneliness is a very short and simple experience. You control a cube with a mouse click. As you approach other cubes, they disperse away from you, and eventually fade away. If you leave them alone, they continue to do their own thing as you move ahead. #SmallGameStudioArcade3

Sibilant Snakes is Snake, but in different "genres" you can play papers please, shadow of the Colossus, etc. #smallgamestudioarcade3

Untitled (the flower game) is loosely based off Snake, but with a very trippy twist. You technically can't die unless something hits you in the head, but past that, this also becomes an art game as you progress. #smallgamestudioarcade3

I'm essentially done with the demo for Project 3.1. The only thing I need to do now is add a scoring system and maybe a life system. It should be similar to making the ship explode. The little GIF below is what I've made so far.

I've been working on the sprites and some of the coding for 3.1, and so far, I've been following along with the tutorial. I have to admit that the more math is involved, the less I understand🥲.
