Retired. Volunteer trying to conserve a wee bit of this beautiful planet. Science, trees, propagation, native plants. Cats. Just the facts, please.
I adopted a 17 year old cat whose owner had passed. I hope to provide her with comfort and care in her last year(s) of life. She’s currently hiding under the bed. I’ll let her adjust on her own terms.

It was a sad day. We got our furnace cleaned. The service person found more than a dozen dead starlings in our furnace pipe. We have already called a chimney sweep to make a new cap. Please explain why they are attracted to a dark, sooty pipe.

Just have to add this to the mix. The 2009 “I can be President” Barbie. I came across her on Nov 7 on an auction site. Sad that in 2024, she’s “Only in My Dreams Can I Be President” Barbie.

A beauty. I grew 3 out of my compost bin ( well, they volunteered). One was small-med. Two were enormous. That was my total crop.

Just planted two American hazelnuts after I bought them bare rooted two years ago. They’ve been in pots all that time and one even produced a nut. Wishing my babies success in rooting in over the fall and winter. New England, zone 7a. I believe this is a photo of one of them in leaf.

I love my field of little blue stem. It will be bronze/orange in the rain (if we ever get some) and will bounce back upright after a snow. Provides joy all fall, winter, and early spring.

I fled the other site. Hope to reconnect w/ many here. I’m a nature lover, tree nerd, native plant enthusiast, and conservationist. Retired but working almost full time as a board and committee member of 3 nonprofits. I garden, propagate plants, play ice hockey, & sail in my free time.
