Happy St. Werburgh’s day!
She was a 7th C daughter of the royal house of Mercia. A revered abbess, she was credited with bringing her favourite goose back to life after he was eaten! Geese often feature in her images. Her body was moved to Chester in 875 and the abbey was dedicated to her.
