Calypso says hi! One day I hope to get her a word board because I think she's smart enough to use it.

This building is called the Black Diamond and it's the Royal Danish Library. They definitely celebrate Hans Christian Anderson at many shops and libraries. I grew up on "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid", and "Thumbelina". denmark.dk/people-and-c...

One of my favorite memories in Copenhagen was when I accidentally wandered into the wrong building while looking for a castle tour. They were so helpful in giving me directions and then I asked what building I was in. The man said, "Oh, this is Parliament."

I love the resilience in Denmark. Life doesn't stop because it's cold or dark. They bike in all weather. They swim in all weather (even naked which was a surprise to my Puritan immersed sensibilities). I was only there a week, but it did help shift my perspective. #getyourpassport

I loved visiting Copenhagen because it showed me the difference social programs can make in the lives of people, even in a very populated city. Investing in people, valuing all workers, and protecting health are ideals for many of the countries Trump is fighting with now. #Denmark #standwithallies

Voter ID laws are just another tool to keep citizens from voting.

Calypso is such a cool cat! She brings presents (stuffed ones), plays games, and comes when you call her. She knows several tricks like stand, sit, and spin and she is as soft as she looks.

This was from my trip to New Harmony, Indiana. The part I didn't capture was when the hummingbird turned to face me, looked me up and down, and then flew back to the woods.

We need to stop having the same battles separately.

Ida B. Wells was a powerhouse. She challenged the lie that Black men were being lynched because they assaulted White women. Her research showed they were killed because they were successfully competing with White business owners. "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." -Ida B. Wells

I went on this trip with my church because I was in Spanish class. Today many of the people still in this church support getting rid of the separation of church & state that they once prized. They support racial profiling and family separation that damages the health and wellbeing of minorities.

The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021 was intended to restore voting protections after Shelby v. Holder gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Immediately, states began making it harder to vote with voter ID laws, fewer polling places in cities, and illegally gerrymandered maps.

I was 17 when I climbed the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacán, ate the best French onion soup in Taxco, and tasted the most delicious orange juice in Mexico City. It was a life-changing experience that taught me so much history and culture. I am thankful for my Mexican friends. #mexicoisbeautiful

This is Maman (Mommy) by Louise Bourgeois (Ottawa, Canada). It was a tribute to Louise's mother who was a weaver, like the spider, and was created to represent her strength, intelligence, protection, & nurturing. Anyone who thinks feminine energy is weak has not been around the women I have known.

I loved our tour of Canada! We visited Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. I picked up a little French and went rock climbing with a lot of people from Taiwan. I always enjoy meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. We all have things we can learn from each other.

I am very grateful the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 finally ended race-based quotas which blocked immigration for non-White people. This brought desperately needed doctors and nurses to the US, and it's also the reason my husband was born here. #birthrightcitizenship #canadaparksrock

This boat at Niagara Falls held people from all over the world, some tourists, some immigrants, some naturalized citizens, and some native-born citizens. I hate that we now live in an environment where POC will have to prove that they belong no matter which category they fall into. It's unequal.

I have a stray cat outside and woke up to this. The video showed that she didn't get the bird.
