Hard to pick a favorite image from our biggest day on Kjölur. Just shy of 50 kilometers. A lot of it on good riding trails with fast tölters. So much wind! But no rain since the first day and lots of glaciers.

Poets and prose writers. Jennifer is so so smart and so soulful…my absolute favorite combination. The Maybe Bird is an absolute wonder of a book. Two hours in her presence will improve your writing whatever your genre. And you might discover your inner poet! Sign up at Writing By Writers.org.

Today’s beautiful thing. 4:43 am our out window in Achill Island, County Mayo. No sleep after news of the big murderous bill. But the beauty is right out the window here and everywhere reminding me to see it. Also, who knew there were palm trees in Ireland?

Today’s beautiful thing. I know it was a hard one back home. I cried from 4 am to 7 am for shame. Then I went out and found this. It’s what I know how to do.

It’s hard, on a day like today, to even write the words “beautiful thing.” And yet there is the world’s beauty, showing up, as it always does, along with the sorrow. James Baldwin taught me that even in grief, I have to keep loving it, because if I don’t, all that will be left of me is fear.

Today’s beautiful thing. Ben saw me watering and came over to ask for a spray down. Also, I am as crushed and lost in regards to the horror we are witnessing as all of you. One thing I can do is hold on to beauty and love my animals and my people, none of whom would wish cruelty on anyone.
