I'm always looking for the resident Monarchs in my yard, but now I have hummingbirds! I saw the baby, too! They actually stop and look at me, hovering in the air, which is really special. #natureisbeautiful #hummingbirds #plantnative

My daily Monarch sighting was made better when I saw an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly on my Joe Pye Weed! My first one this year!

In addition to butterfly watching, I am reading and reviewing as well!! Currently reaching this one by Sarah Pekkanen.

A red Admiral, a white Admiral, and a Pearl Crescent, not including the Monarchs, have been in my garden in the past week!!❤️ I LOVE having native plants!! #butterflies #nativeplants #nativegarden #savetheenvironment #plantnative

Here's another butterfly that showed up. He looks like he's at the end of his life with tattered wings...💔

Another one showing them playing together. I love spending time outside watching them. One afternoon there were two pairs of #monarchs. #monarchbutterflies #plantnative

These two monarchs have been spending afternoons in my garden for two weeks now. It's magical. And that's why I plant native. #monarch #monarchbutterflies #nativeplants

Her humerus bone has a spiral fracture, which requires a specialist to repair. No surprise this is an expensive surgery which we were quoted $6,000 for. Please consider a donation to help save Maxxine’s leg. This sweet puppy had such an awful start to life and deserves this chance

So I don't post a lot of personal stuff here, but I do a lot with dog and cat rescue. In December, we fostered a 9-year-old GSD who had been at animal control for 6 months. After 2 days, my husband, for the first time in 41 years, told me this dog "is a keeper."

Glad to be home! We brought back 2 Mexican street dogs (smaller dogs in pic). Love 3 books that arrived while we were gone-can't wait to review each of them!! Fever Beach by @carlhiaasen.bsky.social, Bird of a Thousand Stories by @kiyash.bsky.social and There's Something about Mira by Sonali Dev.

I might be bringing these two cuties back from Mexico later this month! In Mexico, there are so many stray dogs, they do TNR on them! Heartbreaking to think of dogs surviving on the street. Especially the tiny ones, but all dogs. These 2 will find great homes here! Wish me luck.

Well, turns out it wasn't Sebastian's day to die. He ate his food last night, gobbled down his breakfast, and went for a walk! That dog is going to live as long as Jimmy Carter.

I don't know how much longer the little guy has. He didn't eat this morning and threw up the little bit of scrambled egg I gave him. But then he rallied and wolfed down his dinner. We'll take it day by day. #adoptdontshop rescue dogs

Last night. Only one dog (and cat) was in their own bed! No room for me.

I try to keep them pristine but there's the one my foster puppy chewed...😩

So Hank, my foster dog, went to his new foster home. The 9 yr old GSD mix foster is totally a keeper! After 6 months at Animal Control, Milo's the sweetest dog! Even the cat likes him! Milo's freedom ride on left & Hank (other foster) is in middle and Sebastian, hospice foster on the right.

I just used #skyfollowerbridge & it worked great! Followed lots of #book people from Twitter. Animal people, book people, #EduSky, book reviewers, rescue people, that's who I want to interact with. Picture is of the dog I adored for 10 years. He came to school with me & helped kids. I miss him.

This explains a lot about me. Our long-term hospice foster Sebastian. The first dog allowed to sleep on the bed, he was found wandering in OK as a stray at 15 years old. His eyes are cloudy & his hearing is poor. He bites my husband occasionally when Jack tries to pick him up to go outside.

I'm so happy to be here! ❤️ And to make my week better, one of my very favorite authors and people found me here! Thank you @kaaauthor.bsky.social!!

So cute! This is my hospice foster. We've been fostering little dogs lately! They eat a lot less than big dogs.

Love her books!!

My adorable (& pain in the butt) foster dog. She's from a hoarding situation & was terrified at first. Now she adores me mostly, kisses my husband but won't let him close the door on her crate, & barks at everyone else. Maybe will be adopted this weekend by the perfect family! Crossing my fingers!

This is Sebastian, my hospice foster dog. This 9-pound senior was found as a stray in Oklahoma. Turns out he has Addison's disease; he's on meds for that. When he arrived he was shaky & seemed very fragile. Now he follows us everywhere, loves to eat, and jumps up on our legs for attention. 1/
