We work around this for our overseas students for most of our courses by having everything recorded so it's accessible whenever. And all students get that same experience. (Australian Writers' Centre). We have students from everywhere!

The blades of scissors were not originally connected at the crossing point. They started out like shears, connected at the back by a curve of metal. It makes more sense that they were seen as a pair at that point
