I kinda think that's how we got in this mess in the first place though, incredible complacency.

Although looking back over the last 40 some years, I can see the slow erosion of democratic principles by Republicans:
-States Rights,
-Dodgy, very effective messaging/propaghanda,
-Removal of guardrails on media and election finance.
The planting of the seeds of the destruction of democracy.
