Tempt them w/ live mealworms or waxworms. Mine preferred wax. If I had both types in my hand, the birds would fling the meals to the ground & take the wax. If I only had meals in my hand, they would sit in my palm & stare at me as if to say “really?” They would finally grudgingly take the meals.

I must tell you sometime the full story about the pair that lived in our yard for seven years that bonded so tightly with me. They ate from my hand and would literally follow me everywhere. They would even fly around the windows of the house and look in searching for me. I absolutely adored them.
